Sisters Oregon
"Pristine lakes, rivers and streams amid towering forests of
Ponderosa Pines, all nestled beneath the snow-capped Three Sisters
Mountains on the east side of Oregon's snowy Cascade Mountains.
Sun-drenched days, star-filled nights. All this and more is waiting for
you in beautiful Sisters Oregon. Stroll through our Western style town.
Sisters has it all - antiques, art galleries, crafts, clothing,
specialty shops - right next door to many great places to eat. The food
ranges from barbecue and Wild West fare to some of the finest cuisine in
the Pacific Northwest."

Attractions
Dee Wright Observatory
Since its completion in 1935, the observatory has been a favorite
attraction for thousands of visitors each summer. Interpretive panels,
located on the paved trail to the observatory, tell the story of early
travelers and area geology. A restroom and the trail to the structure are
accessible for wheelchairs and, strollers. The Lava River Interpretive
Trail is located next to the observatory, offering an unusual half-mile
hike through young lava flows on a paved trail.
Deschutes
National Forest
The Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests along with the Crooked River
National Grassland encompass just over 2.5 million acres of Central
Oregon. These public lands extend about 100 miles along the east side of
the Cascade Mountains crest and eastward into the Ochoco Mountains. They
are rich in human and natural history and radiate variety offering a
multitude of diverse scenic and recreation opportunities. Alpine forests
and lush meadows, sparkling lakes and scenic rivers, dense evergreen
forests, and lava caves are contained within the spectacular snow capped
volcanic peaks of the Cascade Mountain Range to the west and high desert
to the east. Newberry National Volcanic Monument offers an up close and
personal look at volcanoes and is home to the endangered pumice grape
fern.
McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway
Discover the highest concentration of snowcapped volcanoes
(and associated glaciers) in the lower 48 states when you
drive the the McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway! Enjoy
the breathtaking sight of Broken Top Mountain and the Three
Sisters, along with their waterfalls, towering gloriously
above the route. Ancient lava fields lying next to calm, clear
lakes, will provide you with a gentle reminder of the area's
violent beginning. This area really illustrates how the
Cascade Range was built.
Three Creeks Lake
The shoreline of Three Creek Lake varies from gentle slope to
rocky cliff, surrounded by old growth forest. Maximum depth is
28 feet down the center and near the cliff on the south end of
the lake. Most of the lake is easy to fish from shore or by
wading, but fishing from a boat is by far the most popular
method. Motors are not allowed on Three Creek Lake,
contributing to the serenity of the setting. There is a
primitive boat ramp on the east shore as well as a small store
that rents boats. back to top
