I Can't Catch My Shadow

I can't catch my shadow
I run
I jump
I walk
I hop
I can't catch my shadow
I play hide and seek
to trick
my shadow
But it seems to know
where I will go
I laugh
while I chase my shadow
and wonder if
I will ever catch my shadow
It seems to hide
in the shade of a tree
I sneak around
so I might surprise
my shadow
that seems to know
where I go
