New Music at Willamette Presents Free Winter Concert
January 28, 2008 -- Salem
Featuring violinist Rolf Schulte and pianist Stephen Gosling. The performance features the music of Elliott Carter, recognized as one of the primary innovators of 20th-century music. The concert also includes a work by Conlon Nancarrow, who focused much of his energy on writing music for the player piano. Free admission. 7 p.m.

Oregon Symphony Pops
January 29, 2008 -- Salem
Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Judy Garland were the greatest singers of the ‘40s and ‘50s and they all had one thing in common: hit charts by Nelson Riddle. The symphony pays tribute to Riddle’s elegant and easy charm, with songs like “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”, “Unforgettable”, “S’Wonderful” and “Get Happy”.
