Alpenrose's Dairyville, the free family fun pioneer town is back!
Every Sunday June 2 - August 25

A Portland tradition for over 50 years, kids and adults flock to the streets of Dairyville during the summer months to explore this fun pioneer exhibit. Visitors can peek into Grandma's Bakery, the Great Western Bank, the Dairyville School, and the Post Office. Kids can watch model trains chug through tiny Oregon landscapes and learn from some of the area's train experts. And no Dairyville visit would be complete without stopping off at the Ice Cream Parlor for a delicious Alpenrose ice cream cone.

Expressions West 2013 Exhibition at Coos Art Museum
May 31 - July 27, 2013

 Coos Art Museum will be exhibiting the Expressions West 2013 juried painting competition. Artists from thirteen western states are invited to compete in this annual event. Juror John Hewitt selected sixty-nine recent paintings by fifty-four artists residing in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.
The opening reception for Expressions West 2013 will take place on May 31 from 5 to 7 pm. The public is invited to attend; we expect many of the participating artists will be present. An awards ceremony begins at 6 PM and John Hewitt will present the prize awards for the competition. The three prizes are $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place and $250 for the third place award. Honorable mentions will also be announced during the ceremony. Come meet the artists and juror at the opening reception.
John Hewitt is a signature member of many prestigious watercolor groups including the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Watercolor West and Kentucky Watercolor Society. He studied with California master painters Vernon Nye, George Post and Millard Sheets and has taught at College of the Redwoods, Pacific Union College and workshops throughout the West Coast and Europe.

 Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies an historic 1936 Art Deco US Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay. The Museum offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes and lectures. Hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday through Friday and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Museum admission: $5 general, $2 students, veterans and seniors, free to Museum members.

McMinnville Garden Club 13th Annual Tour & Faire

"Every Garden is a Gift" is the theme of the McMinnville Garden Club's 13th annual Garden Tour. Bring your cameras and notepads so you can document the artwork and unusual plants you will find in these gardens. Tour hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the suggested donation for tickets is $10.
Then head for the Garden Faire in historic downtown McMinnville to do some serious shopping! Over 45 vendors will be offering a wide variety of unusual plants, unique artwork and hardscape. Garden Tour 10am to 4 pm. The Garden Faire is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is "free".
Proceeds benefit community garden projects and help fund horticultural scholarships for deserving students.
