62nd Annual Tualatin Crawfish Festival
A
ug. 10, 2012
(Tualatin, OR) – Brand new food events on Friday, August 10th kick off the 62nd Annual Tualatin Crawfish Festival this year and the good eats don’t stop until Saturday evening when the festival ends.

We’ve made a major change this year on Friday night to our food offerings and traditional Crawfish Cook Off,” stated Cheryl Dorman from West Coast Bank and this year’s Crawfish Committee Chair. “The biggest change is our all new Crawfish Feast featuring a New Orleans French-infused buffet with Crawfish Pasta Salad, Crawfish and Shrimp boil including spicy Andouille sausage and pork sliders for those who want something besides crawfish.”

The rest of the menu includes Caesar salad, corn on the cob, Yukon Gold potatoes and NW Local Craft beers and wines and is $15 per adult. A special kids’ menu featuring Mac and Cheese and fresh fruit is only $5 per child. A special Strawberry Shortcake Dessert using Oregon strawberries, fresh whipped cream and fresh baked biscuits is also just $5.

The Mystery Box Chef Cook Off will be a thrill to watch as local celebrity chefs have to create a crawfish dish using mystery ingredients they only see when it’s time to start cooking,” said Dorman. “The competition among the chefs will be intense and we look forward to seeing some really innovative and tasty dishes.”

Saturday’s food offerings start with Pancakes on the Lake by Village Inn for only $4 per adult or $2 per child. During the rest of the day there is a Crawfish Boil, Crawfish Eating Contest and Kids’ Watermelon Eating Contest plus numerous food booths offering everything from teriyaki chicken to elephant ears.
Admission is free on Friday for everyone and Saturday admission is $4 for adults; $2 for seniors over 55 and youth age 6 – 17; children from ages 2 – 5 receive a discounted admission of $1 and kids under 2 are FREE.
The 2012 Tualatin Crawfish Festival takes place Friday, August 10
th and Saturday, August 11th throughout the city of Tualatin, Oregon. Friday starts with the Crawfish Feast, Mystery Box Chef Cook Off and music by Hit Machine. Saturday morning begins with Pancakes on the Lake by Village Inn at 7:30am and then the Festival officially kicks off with the community parade beginning at 10am. Other Saturday activities include “Atsa My Dawg” Show, the Crawfish Crawl 5K Run and Walk and lots more activities and entertainment.
